DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 PM AST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Gordon was located near latitude 19.8 North, longitude 40.3 West. Gordon is moving toward the west near 9 mph (15 km/h), and a continued westward or west-southwestward motion is forecast during the next several days. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast through early Saturday, then Gordon should weaken to a depression by Saturday evening. Gradual re-intensification is forecast by the middle part of next week. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches).
